Bernanke Pushing For Second Stimulus Package

Ben Bernanke is starting to resemble a person trainer - asking for more and more, even as it hurts, for the sake of the individual’s own good.  Only in Bernanke’s case, he’s asking for money instead of reps with a dumbbell, and our metaphor’s individual is actually both the average taxpayer and our economy.

Also, the metaphor falls apart as various experts will argue as to how good another stimulus package would actually be.

Anyway, as reported by Scott Lanman, Bernanke told the House Budget Committee that lawmakers “should consider including measures to help improve access to credit by consumers, homebuyers, businesses and other borrowers.  Such actions might be particularly effective at promoting economic growth and job creation.”

Specifics - in terms of actions or amounts of money - didn’t follow, and there’s no vote of any sort scheduled.  The little matter of our record-setting national debt might also get in the way.

We’ll keep an ear open for further news on this topic, though, as - setting aside the macroeconomics - it would be pretty fun to get another $600 check in the mail.

No. No, you can't... STOP. Please don't go away. Please? No one's ever stuck with me for so long before. And if you leave... if you leave... I just, I remember things better with you. - Dory
